Description

The oesophagus is a muscular tube that propels the food, after swallowing, from the mouth into the stomach. There are no studies that have shown grain-inclusive diets to be detrimental to the health of our domestic dogs and it is rare that a dog would require a grain-free diet for medical reasons. In fact, the cooked grains in commercial diets provide an array of beneficial nutrients to the diet including vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Complete foods are those which will deliver all your dog’s required nutrients in their daily ration. Complementary diets have high or low levels of certain nutrients and are therefore only complete when fed in conjunction with other foods. Composition: Rice, Turkey Meal (26%), Dried Beet Pulp (5%), Poultry Fat, Linseed (2.5%), Minerals, Poultry Gravy, Fish Oil (1%) Dried Alfalfa (1%), Oat Feed, Dried Seaweed (0.5%), Chicory Root Extract (as a source of fructo-oligosaccharides (prebiotic FOS 0.1%)), Yucca Schidigera (0.024%). For starters, turkey meal undergoes high-temperature processing, which might reduce its nutritional value and introduce some unwanted contaminants.

Fruits and Vegetables: Many fruits and vegetables can be easily digested by dogs and can provide beneficial vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Examples include pumpkin, peas, carrots, and apples. At Burgess Pet Care, we understand the challenges that dog digestion poses, and how important it is to feed your dog the right diet, for both their health and happiness. You’d be surprised how many foods are dangerous for dogs to digest (including bones) , and how common digestive issues including constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, infections and canine bloat, as well as colitis and inflammatory bowel disease can be. Therefore, choosing the right pet food for your dog is key to helping them have a long and happy life. A poor diet can lead to health conditions such as obesity and diabetes and result in additional trips to the vets. This is why, at Burgess Pet Care, we are dedicated to creating recipes that meets our dog’s nutritional needs, including food that supports a dog’s digestive system at varying life stages. From puppies and juniors through to adult dogs and more senior, our dog food is based on extensive research that has lovingly created products that are delicious, nutritious and with your pet’s best interests at heart.

The Burgess Product Range

Make sure your dog always has plenty of fresh, clean water available and, if you are feeding a dry food, you’ll find they’ll need a little more. Still, it’s significantly more affordable, not to mention you get an additional 25% discount if you sign up for a subscription. The healthiest dog food should provide the correct number of calories, dietary components and balance of nutrients for a dog’s size, life stage and lifestyle. A high-quality dry dog food will contain easily digestible protein, fat and carbohydrate. It should also include vitamins and minerals such as zinc, to support skin and coat health, and calcium to support healthy teeth and bones. All the foods in the Burgess Sensitive Dog Food range for puppies, adults and senior dogs are complete. This means that you can be sure you are providing your pet with all the nutrients they require in exactly the right proportions, so you don’t have to worry about balancing their diet.

Our dogs’ stomachs are adapted to accept large quantities of food in any single session. Their stomach can create extra space by relaxing the muscular fibres in its walls and “unfolding” into a large reservoir where the food is churned and mixed before it is passed through the final part of the stomach (the pylorus) into the small intestine. The partially digested food, combined with gastric juices, is called chyme. Arden Grange goes above and beyond with the most effective support for food digestion by including prebiotics to prevent discomfort or irritation in the stomach. Dogs are classed as ‘adult’ from around 18 months, although this depends on their breed. Smaller breeds tend to hit their ‘teenage’ adolescent phase earlier than larger breeds who develop more slowly. A small breed dog will often be mature by around a year old, whereas a giant breed can be two years plus before they’re classed as an adult. If you’re not sure whether your dog has reached adulthood, ask your vet for advice. That’s why, if you’ve ever wondered ‘Can puppies eat adult dog food?’ or ‘Can adult dogs eat puppy food?’, the answer is – yes, they can, but nutritionally, it’s not the best option. Adrienne Farricelli, a certified dog trainer, behaviour consultant, former veterinarian assistant and author of Brain Training for Dogs has consulted with experts to identify the most common signs to look out for that could indicate your dog has a sensitive digestion or upset stomach:Burgess Sensitive Adult Dog Salmon also offers nutritious omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, which can help to keep your dog's coat and skin healthy. Alfalfa offers natural antioxidants, whilst prebiotics help to keep the gut flora balanced. Yucca extract has been included to reduce unpleasant stool odours, whilst taurine is a key amino acid that keeps the heart in good health. However, these signs could also be linked to other health problems. So if in any doubt, speak to your vet. Should I consider wet food, dry food , or both for my dog with a sensitive stomach? In a nutshell, Nature’s Harvest Grain Free is a game-changing wet dog food for senior dogs and those with sensitive stomachs.
